One of the biggest killers of faith is hopelessness. We all have had, and will have, seasons in life where things just didn’t go the way we wanted them to go. It’s really hard when our expectations aren’t met and it’s completely normal to find ourselves all of sudden doubting God’s love, which is exactly the context that we find the oracle of Malachi. As Israel asks, “How have you loved us, God?”, the prophet challenges them that their definition of God’s love only being based in external situations is actually missing the point.

In Viva! Malachi, we dive into the deeper reasons that the prophet challenged the people of Israel as to why they weren’t feeling loved by God. In short, we often don’t feel loved by God simply because we have ignored our relationship with God. Just like any relationship, if we don’t invest time and energy into it, we will drift apart and that is exactly what Malachi challenges Israel to correct. We will explore four aspects of connecting with God as laid out by the prophet:

Week 4: Giving – Malachi 3:6-12
