A 4-week series designed to encourage students to build a dynamic relationship with Jesus instead of just submitting to “Religianity.” Sometimes, I feel like 93.7% of youth ministry is spent just trying to keep students from really messing up their lives. We have extensive series on maintaining sexual purity, resisting sin and temptation, working through current social issues, and keeping the faith in an antagonistic world. Unfortunately, we can get things turned upside down by spending too much of our focus on external expressions as opposed to internal motivations. Through the Tips & Tricks series, students will learn that building a real and dynamic relationship with the living God should be the single most important purpose of their lives. Everything else flows out of that.

Tips & Tricks takes three lessons to explore the why and what of: Following the rules, Not being a hypocrite, and Not compromising your faith.

In the fourth and final lesson, Tips & Tricks overturns the apple cart, exposing the gray area in each of these “tips,” and reinforcing the fact that our relationship with God is the context within which everything else has meaning.
