These Things Should Not Be This Way invites students into a safe space where they can discuss our country’s recent events (election, political unrest, protests, and systemic racism) without the fear of being attacked or shamed for their thoughts and beliefs.

This is less of a traditional message/sermon and more of a discussion guide that helps you instruct students to think and speak in a way that represents ONLY their foundation as a believer because who they are in Jesus Christ is what matters first and foremost; everything else is secondary and flows from their worldview as a Christian. The resource is designed specifically for small group discussions where students can help each other navigate through the turmoil and unrest in a way that will honor and glorify Jesus.

I teach Freshman Bible at a private Christian School. We used this guide the day after the riots at the US Capitol and the students responded very well. They were respectful to each other because they were discussing the issues at hand based solely on their foundation as a Christian, not their political affiliation or views on systemic racism.
