We like combining things – especially games we love.
"Squares" is a beautiful screen-driven combination of "Categories" and "Tic Tac Toe."
Your students will see a grid of nine answer boxes, and they have to determine which of them fit into the given category – but here's the catch: The CORRECT answer is only the THREE words that make a win on the "Tic Tac Toe" board.
This challenging spin on familiar games works great as an individual game or a team game – as long as every player/team has something to write on.
But our FAVORITE way to play it involves running across the room:
• Put all the players on one side of the room and a bunch of Post-It Note pads and markers on the other.
• Show the puzzle slide but don't let anybody move until you clear the screen.
• When you say go, everyone runs to the Post-Its to write down their answer and then run to the blank wall to stick them (in order to be fair, they must write down the right answers EXACTLY the way they appeared on the screen – no shorthand or abbreviations).
• You can award points to all right answers, the first five answers, or just the first right answer on the wall (or anything in between).
