Twenty-five video-based relay races with a “get-to-know-you” element and a big helping of randomness.

Details

Relay Roulette is an all-play relay race game with a twist. Before each round, the wheel will spin and “randomly” select a relay race and a team order. Each team must scramble to get into the correct order BEFORE they can begin racing.

With 25 different Relay/Order combinations, Relay Roulette is super replayable. Use the Quick Start folder to jump right in, or use the Build Your Own folder to select specific races and line orders.

While the original Relay Roulette download featured many classic relay races that didn't need any supplies, the new Relay Roulette 2: Some Assembly Required requires a little bit more prep, but it's a lot more fun. See the supply list below for what you'll need. Hopefully, most of the items are things you already have lying around your youth room.

HOW TO PLAY:
• The wheel on the left will spin and “randomly” select a relay race. Then, the wheel on the right will spin and “randomly” select a line order.
• Once a team has successfully gotten themselves into the correct order, the relay race begins.
• The first team to have all players cross the finish line scores 100 points. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

SET UP:
• If this is your first time playing Relay Roulette, use the videos in the Quick Start folder. This will give you five rounds that utilize all five relay races and line combinations.
• You can also use the “Build Your Own” folder to select your own race/order combinations to make Relay Roulette infinitely replayable.
• Mark a starting point for teams to line up behind and an end line or turnaround line.
• Depending on the size of your room and how long you want each race to take, you may want to have teams race down and back or simply race to a point before signaling for the next person in line to go.
• Split your group up into 2+ teams. You may have as many teams as you want.

Teams of around 8-10 will make the line up portion more fun, but you can use smaller sized teams for a quicker game.

SUPPLIES NEEDED:
• Hula Hoops (1 per team)
• Pennies (at least 1 per team, but 1 per person is even better)
• Spoons (1 per team) & Ping pong balls or eggs (real or fake) (1 per team)
• Inflated Balloons (1 per team)
• Baseball Bat, Wiffle Bat, Half a pool noodle, or something similar for ""dizzy bat"" spin (1 per team)

This Resouce Includes:

  • Gameplay document with instructions and tips (Word file)
  • Individual (25 Relay Race/Order Combination + Instructions) game videos (mp4 files)
  • Title slide (jpeg and mp4 files)
  • Quick Start Folder with a pre-made game ready to go
  • Build It Yourself Folder with all 25 race combos for replayability

About this Product
Make sure you clearly explain the 5 races before you begin spinning the wheels.
To determine how long your racecourse should be you will want to test out a couple of races in your space before you begin. Each video has between 2 and 2.5 minutes of race music. Either have some additional music cued up or be ready to cue up an earlier part of the video.
