One of the most frustrating parts of student ministry is having a front-row seat to the moments when your stu- dents, whom you love to watch grow and take risks, throw away their influence by making a questionable deci- sion. However, the truth is, many times, students view leadership simply as a thing you do, no matter how often the vocabulary of the phrase You are a leader says that it’s also who you are. There must be a balance between the doing and the being of leadership. When they understand that being a leader is a critical part of their ministry— and that it doesn’t just happen—they can lead with the balance and integrity we hope for them.
HOW TO USE THIS RESOURCE:
Option 1: Use this in a Group Setting
Follow along in the Facilitator's Guide and you'll find instructions, time frames, and extra notes just for you. The student handouts are on a separate file; Be sure to make copies for each student in your group.
Option 2: Use this in a Mentoring Relationship or for an individual student.
Just make a copy of the Student Handout and give it (or send it) to the student (all the instructions they need are already there). If you are mentoring a student, just make an extra copy of the Student Handout for yourself and walk alongside the student as he/she goes through this study.
