Use the training materials whenever and however you want! Last year we found that most stuck to a simple, 3-hour “just press play” version of the National Day - but you have the freedom to use it in whatever format works best for your church and community needs. Whether you prefer a single-day event in fall or splitting it into 2-3 sessions, this adaptable “training day in a box” is designed for flexibility. Just hit play, or get creative—whatever suits your group! Think OUT of the box, too!

In 2025, Doug Fields and Josh Griffin will host exclusive, invite-only Zoom sessions every few months for hosts to share ideas, gain inspiration, and discuss what to expect from this year’s training. These check-ins will be both motivating and informative as the training season approaches.

FAQs

Do I need a set date in 2025?
This year, we’re providing flexibility! Choose any date(s) that work for you and the groups you’re inviting. Hosting? Pick a date, lock in your nearby youth ministries, and go! It’s fully customizable. Many youth ministry locations choose a Saturday morning in late September, but it’s totally up to you! You’ll have access no later than August 1st, 2025.

Why host this training?
This opportunity is perfect for those passionate about helping youth workers succeed, training volunteers effectively, building community, and networking. If your church can support local collaboration, this might be the right fit for you!

Is an internet connection required to host?
No. This is not a live-streamed event. You’ll download everything in advance, so all you need on the day is a screen and a computer. Host it in your main space or wherever you prefer!

Are there any additional costs?
No extra fees! The hosting license covers one location and as many youth workers as you’d like to invite for a single day.

Can I charge visiting groups to attend?
It’s up to you! You can either gift the training to local youth groups or charge a modest fee—up to $25 per person or $99 per group is suggested. All payments go directly to you, making it easy to tailor the experience and fully own the registration process of your choice.

How long is the training?
The program is flexible, though many choose the three hour “just press play” version with 7 main training sessions, plus discussions and fun activities. You can adjust by adding or swapping content to customize the day. Just block off three hours, and you’ll have plenty of time.

Will DYM help promote my event?
We’ll promote the event and list registered host sites on trainmyvolunteers.com, but each host is responsible for local promotion. Let your network know, reach out to local churches, and spread the word!

What’s included in the schedule?
The schedule is designed for simplicity. Seven training sessions of about 10-12 minutes each, discussions, and extra sessions if you’d like. Delivered in Coleader, the content can be customized to fit your ministry’s specific needs.

Want to use the training for just your church?
No problem. You’ll be able to purchase access just for your team at a future date.
