A Jesus-centered package centered on the Jewish holidays of Rosh Hashanah (Oct 2-4, 2016) and Yom Kippur (Oct 11 & 12, 2016), containing two messages with instructions and background information. The “Days of Awe” are the days between the Jewish holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Traditionally, these were the ten days where you could “influence” God to write your name in the Book of Life through repentance, good deeds, and giving to charity. This resource contains two messages, one for Rosh Hashanah and one for Yom Kippur, that focus on true salvation through grace and the forgiveness of sins. It's a Biblical Jesus-centered counter to the saved-by-works that's so deeply embedded in our culture.
• The first message focuses on forgiveness based on Psalm 51.
• The second message focuses on salvation as opposed to offerings and is based on various passages, including Romans 3:23-24 and Hebrews 10.
Ideally, you could use the first message on or close to Rosh Hashanah (2016: begins at sundown on Sunday, Oct. 2; 2017: begins at sundown Wednesday, Sept. 20) and use the second message on or close to Yom Kippur (2016: begins at sundown Tuesday, Oct. 11; 2017: begins at sundown Friday, Sept. 29). But you can also use this resource anytime; just remember to change the references to the dates in the messages.
Both messages feature the gospel front and center and are well-suited for doing an altar call or something similar afterwards. The first message includes a symbolic ritual to remember God's forgiveness. All instructions and necessary background on these holidays are provided.
Includes:
• Overview & Instructions for each week (Word file)
• Message manuscripts (word-for-word) for each week (Word file)
