Classic Rock is a 5-week series look at classic "rock" stories from the Bible. Rocks have been used in Scripture to seal the tomb of Jesus, to serve as spiritual markers, to display the 10 commandments, to provide water, and even to kill those who faithfully follow Jesus! This series will challenge you to a deeper understanding of some of these classic biblical events.
Week 1 - Hit Me with Your Best Shot
Moses climbs the charts with these 2 hits. Students will discover how these two events reveal Christ as the Rock of our salvation. They'll also discover the choice that Moses made that led to his death at the top of Mt. Nebo. (Exodus 17:1-6 & Numbers 20:1-12)
Week 2 - More Than A Feeling
Moses holds the Top 10 in his hands. While Moses was on Mt. Sinai, God wrote out the Ten Commandments on two stones with His own finger. This message challenges students to realize that the 10 Commandments aren't quite as easy as we may have first thought. (Exodus 24:12)
Week 3 - Old Time Rock 'N Roll
Joshua gives us a timeless classic as he reminisces about God's promises. This message reveals to students that God is aware that we are prone to spiritual amnesia, and that God has a plan for spiritual markers in our lives to help us remember His faithfulness. (Joshua 4:5)
Week 4 - Already Gone
Jesus has left the building! For centuries non-believers have tried to disprove the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This message exposes five false statements that non-believers have made concerning the resurrection of Jesus Christ. (Matthew 27:60)
Week 5 - Don't Stop Believin'
Stephen holds his position in the face of fierce competition. From the stoning of Stephen to the martyrdom of such missionaries as Steve Saint and Jim Elliot, to the executions of Christian teenagers Cassie Bernall and Rachel Scott, this message encourages students to stand firm in their faith. (Acts 7:59)
