A fast-paced screen-driven word game with an interactive PowerPoint.

Details

This fast-paced word game takes seconds to learn but can be hours of fun! It’s so simple! Starting the PowerPoint game file brings up a category followed by the full alphabet. Contestants take turns naming things in that category which begins with any one of the letters. Click the box on the PowerPoint of the first letter of each answer. When you click on a letter, it changes colors to let you know it has been used.”Letters clicked can no longer be used for that round. The game gets much more difficult as fewer available letters are left to use. When a contestant can no longer name an item within that category with whatever letters are left, they lose. If you happen to use all the letters (you probably won’t), the last team to give an answer wins.

This game can be played in several amazing ways.

1) Up-front: have two people compete. Have them take turns naming items within the categories.

2) In a Round: play it in a catchphrase style, where contestants take turns coming up with an answer one after another during each round. This can be played as individuals or in teams (teams alternating turns).
3) Small Groups: have small groups take turns coming up with words.
4) Works on Zoom: simply share your screen and have students guess in turn.

To increase the competition and keep the game moving, add a 10-second timer.

This game includes 20 different categories, so you can play it many times.

BONUS: The game also comes with a blank slide, so you can come up with your own categories, or use the PowerPoint in other creative ways.

Note: Due to the way the game runs, this product works in PowerPoint, but not in other presentation software!

This Resource Includes:

  • Gameplay instructions (pdf file)
  • Complete PowerPoint game file (due to the way it is played, this only works in PowerPoint)
  • Individual (20 categories + blank) game slides (jpeg files)
  • Title slide (jpeg file)
