Bullies: A Call to Kindness is a four-week teaching series created by Experience Scripture that explores God's heart for the vulnerable.
Throughout this series, we are going to look at what it means to be genuinely kind and caring to the people in our midst, as well as how to navigate difficult situations in which people are not kind or caring to us. With the rise in technology and social media, bullying can take place over the internet, on people's phones, through rumors, unkind words, and yes, physical bullying also still persists!
In most bullying situations, there are a handful of different players that exist: the person who is vulnerable to being mistreated (what we will call “The Outsider”), the bully, the victim (the person actually being bullied), and the bystander (or the person who sees it all happening but is not involved).
Each week of this series will challenge the students to empathize and understand each of these players:
- Week 1: The Outsider
- Week 2: The Victim
- Week 3: The Bully
- Week 4: The Bystander
Drawing heavily on excerpts from The Law in Deuteronomy and Exodus, as well as instructions from Jesus in Matthew 5 and instructions from Paul in Romans 12, this series provides a great Biblical foundation for how to handle difficult situations and challenging people. At the end of the day, students will be encouraged to live with counter-cultural kindness as they follow Jesus.
In addition to four fully-developed manuscripts, this series includes small group discussion guides, PowerPoint presentations for each lesson, and ready-to-post social media images.
