We use abbreviations all the time, but do we know what they stand for? Abbrevs tests your students' knowledge of some of the most commonly used shorthands--you may be surprised to learn which abbreviations they know and which ones they don’t! In addition to some word trivia, Abbrevs adds a strategic element by allowing students to pick if they want an easy, medium, or hard abbreviation. The easy options are very common phrases, the medium clues are a bit less common, and the hard clues will likely stump your students! Here is how to play: 

Call two students on stage. Before seeing the abbreviations, the first student must choose between an easy, medium, or hard question. The second student must pick from the two options that remain. (Alternate who gets to pick first each round.) 

After the options are picked, reveal the abbreviations to the students one at a time. Each student has 10 seconds to answer what their abbreviation stands for. Answers must be exact.  Tally the points. Most points at the end of 10 rounds wins.
