This resource includes two message outlines that Brooklyn Lindsey used to introduce her students to Jesus’ teachings on money.

Message One: Money-tastic

Explore the problems that come with being “money-drastic”. Brooklyn defines what that is, what it looks like, and feels like and offers another option. Becoming “money-tastic” is possible when we shift our focus from how much money we have to how much of Christ we have. Centering on Luke 6:13 and Matthew 6:19-21, they’ll discover what Jesus thought about treasure and where we should find it. Give your group a chance to determine whether possessions have become their obsession and invite them to claim a filthy rich life in relationship with Christ. This message includes small group questions that can be used right after the message, during another group time, they could be emailed to students, printed as devotional material, or even given to parents to involve them in the conversation.

Message Two: Rich

Here we debunk the definition of rich and poor. Message two works out the equation found in Deuteronomy 6 and again in Matthew 22. Loving God plus loving others equals an ultra rich life. Jesus, in Luke 12:15 points out to a selfish commentator, how foolish it is to have stuff without having a rich relationship with God. Stuff makes us stingy but relationships make us rich and Jesus defines the most important ones. Our Dad is rich, and that makes us rich to-the closer we are, the more rich we become with all of the things the Father has given to the Son. This message includes small group questions that can be used right after the message, during another group time, they could be emailed to students, printed as devotional material, or even given to parents to involve them in the conversation.
